How to set up TradingView, step by step

In just a few simple steps, you can start trading with all the information TradingView offers at your fingertips. Here’s how to get started.

Step 1: Create a TradingView account

If you already have a Questrade account, go to the Questrade Broker page on TradingView and select Get started in the top right corner of the screen.

This will start the TradingView account setup process, which should only take a few minutes to complete.

Already have a TradingView account too? Feel free to skip to step 3.

If you don’t have a Questrade account yet, you can start the process of creating one from anywhere on Questrade’s website by clicking on the Open an account button.

Step 2: Choose your TradingView subscription

There are a variety of subscription options available at TradingView, but the good news is TradingView’s basic plan is free until you’re ready to upgrade.

Remember, as a Questrade customer, you can trade directly from within TradingView once you sign up and connect your accounts via our secure API.

Step 3: Connect your Questrade account to TradingView

Once your TradingView account is created, you can sign in and search for Questrade in the Trading panel at the bottom of your chart under See all brokers.

Alternatively, feel free to explore the Questrade Broker page on TradingView on TradingView, where you can also start the account connection process.

Clicking on the Questrade icon will open a login dialogue box - click Connect.

If you don’t want TradingView to stay connected to your Questrade account, you can select the “Don’t remember me” checkbox, but by doing so you will have to connect your account again for every new trading session on TradingView. This setting can be very important for shared computers or wifi networks.

After clicking Connect you’ll see a Questrade login page. Log in as usual with your account credentials through the secure API connection.

Note: TradingView does not have access to, nor do they store your personal login information like your username or password. Account information is shared through a secure, encrypted API that does not share any of your sensitive information with third parties.

Once you successfully log in and complete multi-factor authentication, you will be prompted to consent to the information that will be shared with TradingView as part of this integration.

Click Allow if you consent, and you will be taken back to the TradingView platform.

Step 4: Access a new world of research – and let TradingView do the rest

You’re all set up now - it’s that easy!

You’ll be able to see your Questrade account at the bottom of your TradingView chart in the Trading Panel (next to the screener and strategy tester).

Review your existing positions with ease, customize your information columns and more all in one neatly organized panel. TradingView gives you access to even more data than before, arming you with the tools you need to make more informed trading decisions.

Tip: Have a lot of positions? Expand the panel view using the buttons at the top right hand corner to go full-screen.

Note: Authorized trader accounts are not available through the TradingView API at this time.
